Children and staff will be excluded from school if they test positive for COVID-19 or exhibit one or more of the symptoms of COVID-19 based on CDC Guidance that is not otherwise explained:
- A fever of 100° F or greater
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Chills
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle pain
- Headache
- Undiagnosed rash
- vomiting/ diarrhea
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell.
- A household member is directed to take a COVID test (not antibody screening)
- A household member is exposed to a diagnosed case of COVID
- Our health policy stipulates that the household will be required to remain out of the school for 14 days unless a note is provided by a physician indicating that the presenting symptoms are associated with a known non-COVID-19 illness (examples; allergy, treated strep throat, resolved influenza, etc). The physician’s note must not be from a family member.
- Should a child become ill (or exhibit any of the above symptoms) while at school, you will be called to pick up your child.
- Exclusion from Kemit Academy has always been necessary to reduce the transmission of illness. For your child’s comfort, and to reduce the risk of contagion, we ask that children be picked up within 1.0 hours of notification. Until then, your child will be kept comfortable and will continue to be observed for symptoms.
